Travis Kelce’s Wembley Stadium adventure left him even more in awe of superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift– while also revealing that London would be the only team he would leave the Kansas City Chiefs to join.
Kelce and his brother Jason were asked whether they would play for a team in London on the latest episode of their ‘New Heights’ podcast and the pair were in little doubt.
“F*** yes,” said Jason – who retired at the end of last season. His answer was immediately followed by Travis’s unequivocal response.
“100 per cent, I am waiting for that team. To play for a team other than the Chiefs, that’s the only situation – if I get to play abroad.”
When pressed further by his older brother, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end – who is about to start his 12th season in the NFL – added that he believes it will be less than 10 years before a team based abroad are in the league, which probably renders his ambition unlikely.
“I don’t know if it will be London, but it is where we have been playing the most overseas.”
The Kelces were in London for the latest leg of Swift’s sell-out Eras Tour, and while Travis did not go into detail about his cameo that featured a star turn on stage, he was gushing in his praise of Swift.
“We watched Tay absolutely shred it. Playing in front of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium.
“I remember 2015, playing in front of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium and then seeing Tay up there – they were a lot louder for her.
“Every single show she makes unique with the acoustic set. It puts everyone in a room with Taylor.”
Brother Jason and his wife Kylie have been alongside Travis and Swift’s parents, friends and assorted members of TV, music and film royalty – not to mention actual royalty in the shape of Prince William and his children.
Travis labelled His Royal Highness ‘the coolest motherf***er’ before admitting he wasn’t quite sure how to behave.
“He was there with little George and Charlotte and they were a delight to meet,” said Travis.
“I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow or curtsy, or just be an American idiot and shake their hands.”
Jason was quick to respond, having being quoted as not being too impressed with the concept of kings previously, he made sure he addressed the Royal guests in the correct manner.
“We did ask, but because it was an official royal event we did not need to bow or curtsy. But I did address him as your Royal Highness.
“Being part of a monarchy I would assume it’s hard to be a down-to-earth human-being but he came off that was absolutely.”
Away from the on-stage headline-grabbing, Jason captured the heart of a young Philadelphia Eagles fan outside the stadium, by walking up to him to pose for a picture.
As for Kelce, the 34-year-old end almost stole the show, and almost broke the internet with his cameo on Sunday. He appeared on stage along Swift for the very first time since their relationship became the hottest topic on the planet.
Having been cheered on by his girlfriend through the NFL season, Kelce has been a regular by the side of the stage during her worldwide tour.
Whether it’s in Sydney, Singapore, Paris or all three legs of the first stage of her London dates, Kelce has been there. But this time – dressed in top hat, tuxedo tails and white dickie bow – he sent Swifties wild, although he did stop short of popping the question.
Kelce’s latest effort underline the fact a career in entertainment beckons post-NFL career, but for now his focus is on winning a fourth Super Bowl in six years and third in succession.
After back-to-back Lombardi Trophies, Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs kick off the chase for an unprecedented three-peat against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce will have to put aside his toe-tapping escapades before the end of Swift’s tour, as the Chiefs training camp begins on Sunday July 21.
