Cristiano Ronaldo’s venture into the world of YouTube has seen him smash records in typical fashion.
The Portuguese superstar launched ‘UR Cristiano’ in August, which quickly became the fastest channel to reach one million subscribers, and plenty more milestones have followed since then.
With 66.1 million subscribers to date, Ronaldo‘s corner of the internet has already surpassed both his fierce rival Lionel Messi and former employers Manchester United in online audience size.
In fact, these numbers mean that UR Cristiano is now the most subscribed sports channel on YouTube.
But it isn’t just those in the sporting world who Ronaldo has managed to overtake during this time.
His current total now sees him ahead of global pop sensation Taylor Swift, who boasts 60.2 million subscribers, despite having an almost 18-year head start on her footballing counterpart.
Swift launched her channel in September 2006, using it to share her acclaimed music with her huge fanbase, making her one of the platform’s biggest music pages.
The 14-time Grammy Award winning artist holds the 43rd-most subscribed YouTube channel, but is no match for Ronaldo.
Having enjoyed a rapid rise on the website, the Al Nassr captain now sits at number 32 among the most popular channels.
And with Ronaldo known for being fiercely competitive and driven by a desire to break records, fans can expect him to target even greater heights in the world of social media.
In fact, the 39-year-old has already revealed his aim to overtake well-known YouTuber Mr Beast within two years, who currently sits well clear of him with 327 million subscribers, the most on the platform.
Speaking in September, Ronaldo said: “Mr Beast on YouTube? In two years, let’s try to beat him.”
While this may seem an ambitious target, especially given the former Manchester United star’s huge dedication to his footballing career, there is certainly huge interest in his YouTube content.
Across his 63 videos since the channel’s creation, Ronaldo has amassed over 565 million views, with fans flocking to catch a glimpse into the sporting icon’s life.
His videos have seen him take part in challenges, including a hilarious ‘Try not to laugh’ challenge, as well as interviews with those closest to him, including partner Georgina Rodriguez.
There is also plenty of time dedicated to talk about the Portugal captain’s illustrious career.
In one video, Ronaldo discussed his future aims with former Man United teammate Rio Ferdinand, and revealed that he is targeting the 1,000-goal mark before retirement.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is already the record goalscorer in football history, having found the net 907 times for club and country to date.
And with Ronaldo showing no signs of slowing down, with six goals in his opening eight games for Al Nassr this season, few would bet against him setting yet another astonishing piece of history.
