Fernando Alonso appears to have jumped at the chance to address fans thinking Taylor Swift referenced him in her latest album.

The pair were rumoured to have been dating last year before the singer got into a relationship with NFL and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

The Shake It Off singer’s romance with the American football star has taken the world by storm, with Swift referencing Kelce in at least one track on the new album.

But Swifties and Formula 1fans alike went crazy on social media this week after hearing the lyrics to her new song ‘imgonnagetyouback’, believing two of the lines are about Alonso.

She sings: “Small talk, big walk, act like I don’t care what you did. I’m an Aston Martin that you steered straight into the ditch, then ran and hid.”

Now, the Aston Martin driver himself has responded.

In a video posted on his team’s TikTok page, Alonso is seen sat on a chair with an iPad in his hand.

The same section of the song Swift is believed to have been aiming at Alonso plays in the background as he sits there.

He then puts his fingers to his lips as if to ‘shh’ towards the camera before continuing to scroll.

“Fernando Alonso’s Taylor Swift TikTok is everything,” one fan wrote on X, reacting to the video.

A second added: “I just burst out laughing when that Fernando Alonso Aston Martin tiktok came up on my fyp. Talk about seizing an opportunity.”

Swift’s album launched the day before the Chinese Grand Prix.

Alonso will start Sunday’s race from third place after a successful qualifying session, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez securing the front of the grid for Red Bull.

But the Spaniard was less successful in Saturday’s sprint race, with Alonso being forced to retire after making contact with Ferrari‘s Carlos Sainz.

He was adjudged by the stewards to have caused a collision and received a ten-second penalty after the race, which had no impact given he failed to finish.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen chased down and passed Lewis Hamilton to claim victory in the opening sprint of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Hamilton finished second in the sprint, but then had a nightmare in qualifying as he was eliminated in the first round – the Mercedes driver’s time was only good enough for 18th.
